Conjure up eye-catching images and illustrations
OpenCanvas is one of the best crossover programs you will find when moving on from real paint brushes to digital design. The installation process takes only a few minutes, after which you can begin drawing right away. OpenCanvas features a simple friendly interface, even for first-time users. Also, note that if you're used to Photoshop, you'll find OpenCanvas extremely familiar, as it follows the same basic guidelines: a large working area with floating windows displaying tools, settings, color palette and so on.
In this latest release of Open Canvas, there are a ton of new features including a new Tool Palette, Color Sampler, Preset Manager, Grabber Control, Menu and Shortcut Key. The Tool Palette is probably the most interesting and welcome innovation. OpenCanvas 4.5 features a new elegant look with a standardized size of Tool Palette and it now supports docking, window shading and adsorbing when moving the palette. In addition, much more workspace can be used efficiently than before.
In summary, OpenCanvas lets you experiment with traditional painting while enjoying the advantages of computer design.

I'm using OpenCanvas and it worked perfectly with my XP-Pen Artist 12 Pro Display drawing tablet . it's has most functions you would need when you start out doing digital art and isn't that expensive, so if you feel like leveling up you can still go for Photoshop. I would still prefer to use OC for lineart as it has a really good stabilizer, that PS lacks. You can save data in OC with the PS format, so carry over between each programm is fairly easy.
And don't forget, in case you go for PS, there is a monthly payment for the current version, for like any other program it'a one time payment to obtain the license. More

What's it cost?.
This is a 30-day trial period, then I'll have to pay. What will I have to pay?
Is it a secret? A surprise?

Great Program! =].
Before I discovered OpenCanvas, I drew in Photoshop - hundreds of times more expensive, and not really intended for drawing. Then, I got told about OpenCanvas. As soon as I downloaded it, my art began to improve. The smoothness of the pencil is one of my favourite things xD
Pros:
Most things ;]
Cons:
Can't get my graphics tablet to work occasionally More

to answer a few questions.
Though, it might not be the most helpful to try and answer questions to a version of a product I haven't used yet (I've used the previous versions and love them all, even though I'm a Paint Tool SAI user right now). Nonetheless, I'll download the trial when I get home, and from what I already see of it- I already love it.Anything by PortalGraphics (the guys who make OpenCanvas) is completely safe to download, install, and use- just try it out, it'seasy after a few test runs. It's a 30-day trial; so, yes, you have to pay for it after that. Otherwise, before that, you can do what you want with the program. As for Vista, if you looked right on the portalgraphics site about OpenCanvas 4.5+, on the site, they state that it's ME, 2K, and Vista compatible. sorry about that- stumbled upon this site to while trying to find websites that talked about OpenCanvas 4.5+, but saw that there were unanswered questions here, but no way to reply to them. Cheers! More
